Hikers Passions

I love the outdoors and nature, and like to hike and camp. I don't hunt or fish, although I have fished some - I just enjoy visiting new locations, the scenery, the plants and animals I see, etc. I have hiked a fourth of the AT (in sections) and some other trails. I also like to canoe and have done some rivers in Georgia and elsewhere. I also like learning about history, most of the sciences and mathematics (I am currently a college math teacher). I have read some about biology and geology but would like to learn more. Mainly I am looking for a friendship with a heterosexual man (I am happily married) who also likes to hike and canoe, and who would be interested in conversations as we hike or enjoy navigating a river (class I-III or maybe class IV sections) in my canoe. I have recently moved to the Atlanta area and have not really met anyone who also likes these types of activities. I have three children who are college age that (rarely) may want to join us in these adventures. I also just want to converse in this chatroom to learn things about places to hike or hiking foods or equiptment, or tips about hiking, etc.
